Still Photos and Moving Images

Andrew & Carissa Gallo creators of the motion picture and photography studio, Sea Chant used the Iceland’s nature scene to create a series of moving images. Their cinemagraphs feature ghostly appearances in the natural essence of the solitary land.

Cinemagraph is a term used by photographers to describe “GIF’s” or Graphics Interchange Format where just one element within an otherwise still picture moves. In today’s world, GIF’s become the part of our lives starting with tumblr, spreading to pinterest, instagram and even we have a new GIF WhatsApp called “Relay”. The power of “video art” is changing our reality and Cinemagraph (GIF) is now being used by an increasing number of innovative image-makers working within this new field, a middle ground between still photos and moving images.
